Ratings decide what your player can do. Relationships decide whether the team gives them the chance. In HoopDreams, trust with your teammates, your coach and your rival quietly shapes which options appear in key moments and how likely they are to work.
The three relationships
Teammate trust grows when you share the ball, show up for team events and back players in the locker room. Coach trust grows when you follow the game plan and accept your role, even when it is smaller than you want. Your rival relationship moves with every head-to-head meeting and the way you talk about them.
What high trust unlocks
Some scenario choices only appear once trust is high enough. A coach who trusts you is more likely to draw up the final play for you. Teammates who trust you are more likely to set the screen or make the extra pass. These moments are where titles and awards are won.
- Better odds on late-game decisions.
- Extra options in locker-room and contract scenes.
- Fewer morale problems across a long season.
Choices that cost trust
Demanding shots, skipping practice and calling out teammates in public all lower trust. One bad moment rarely ends a career, but a habit of them shrinks your options exactly when the stakes are highest. If morale drops low, a Team Dinner from your bag is the quickest way to steady the locker room before it spreads to results.
Handling your rival
A rivalry is not something to avoid. Beating your rival in big games builds hype and legacy. Keep it competitive on the court and respectful off it, and the rivalry becomes one of the best stories of your career.
